Cancer season may not officially start for another few days but today it might feel like it as Venus enters Cancer so we enter the emotional whirlwinds. The evolutionary intent of Venus in Cancer is to know and relate to ourselves as emotional beings. As Venus is ruler of the South Node in Libra, it can also be translated into learning to meet our own emotional needs. But first we need to explore our attachments to expecting others to take care of us and help us feel secure. So the just of it is a learning process where we grow to minimize our external dependancies on others to feel emotionally safe and secure. In more practical terms during this transit we could be more orientated toward nurturing ourselves and others, taking care of stuff around the home, creating nurturing meals, wanting to withdraw and stay home.

But today in general, with Mercury and Venus conjuncting in Cancer and the moon in Virgo there could be a feeling of insecurity and worry or maybe we get an awareness coupled with discrimination that we need to improve our relationship to our self image.

If Mars represents how we are always constantly becoming as in making choices to participate with life, maybe today Mars has us choosing to stay in our safety zone of self containment. Mars wants to be self sustaining, and with Taurus and Cancer it’s how can we take care and nurture ourselves today? How can we meet our own emotional needs? Can we choose to tend to our insecurities? Jupiter and Sun are still in Gemini, theres still the energy of self curiosity to investigate this uprise in emotions.

So now that we have 3 inner planets in Cancer some themes we’ll be working with will be home, family, emotions and our self-image. The Moon being in Sag today, all these emotions could feel like our truth. Jupiter in Gemini rules the Sag Moon so hopefully we can stay curious about our subjective emotional experience. There could also be a lot of restlessness in the air with the Mercury/Jupiter semisextile adding to it.

Mercury in Cancer is curious about the subjective emotional experience, in a semisextile today with Jupiter maybe we can redefine an emotion or put it in a new context. Happy Cancer season! The Cancer archetype is about our self image, how we see ourselves inwardly and a lesson within the archetype is one of learning that emotional security is internal. Cancer is home and family, our early emotional imprinting and our capacity to nurture others. With the Sun, Mercury, and Venus all in Cancer now we are evolving our relationship to this archetype.

On this Jupiter day we have Venus and Mercury in semisextile to him, could feel like emotional insecurities are put on blast. The point being of course is to explore the emotions and come into more self knowledge and awareness. I’ll keep repeating that with Jupiter transiting through Gemini we are expanding our known definitions of things, so today we’re opening to curiosity about our emotional needs and our self image. Jupiter rules the sag moon, so we are reexamining set beliefs we’ve had about our self image, our inner and outer homes, our emotions.

SUMMER SOLSTICE

The longest day of the year coupled with a full moon! Summer solstice on the wheel of the year would represent peak christ consciousness with the triumph of light (consciousness) over darkness (ignorance) which fits very well with the illumination of the full moon. Today we celebrate the vitality and enlightenment gifted to us from the sun, the full moon in Capricorn can also offer us enlightenment as to where we’ve been feeling stuck and emotionally repressed and blocked. So as emotional blockages erupt today, Venus in Cancer reminds us to take care of our self. If we can use the awareness offered to us today we can see where we’ve been emotionally immature or expecting others to take care of us and meet our emotional needs. How can we have more emotionally self accountable? How can we take responsibility for our emotional self? Maybe today we can simply come into a deeper understanding of how our upbringing has conditioned our emotionally subjective reality and our self image and maybe just having that awareness can help us pivot into a healthier and more authentic way of being and relating.

Saturn in Pisces ruling the full moon in Capricorn can also help us be realistic about expectations we’ve set on ourselves and others while also holding respect for our limitations and boundaries. No one can be everything for everyone. We’re also deconditioning and learning new and healthier ways to have relationships with ourselves and others. The Mercury and Mars sextile today is working in tandem with all the other happenings to help us choose to nurture our physical and emotional bodies.

On this Saturn day we have the Moon in Saturns home sign of Capricorn. Going off the energy of yesterday we’re still working in this realm of emotional maturity, self accountability, deconditioning and really cultivating more self-authority. Then we have Mercury square the nodal axis with the resolution node being NN in Aries.

So we have this Mercury in Cancer which is very focused on the subjective emotional reality, you know we’re thinking about how we feel, emotionally relating to everything, craving security and comforts of home/family, introspective, maybe we’re a bit nostalgic (water holds memory) and just very aware of our feelings and emotions so we’re all a bit more sensitive right now. When this placement is square the nodes it means that energy is oscillating between Aries/Libra things like wanting to be alone to deal with your emotions and wanting to talk it out with someone, think/speak for yourself and bend to please others, taking care of yourself and needing support from others, taking direct action and getting a bunch of opinions before your decide. With the Mercury square applying to the North Node it Aries it means we need to fill our own cups before we can help fill others, we need to cultivate a more emotional self awareness so we know what emotional needs we are projecting on others vs what the real relationship needs are. Can we really just sit and listen and not project our emotional realities onto others?
